The Czech Economic Society announces the nomination call for seventh
 
Kateřina Šmídková Prize
 
by 9th October 2026
 
The Prize is given to commemorate the leading Czech economist professor Kateřina Šmídková, a longstanding member of the management board of the CES, professor of economics at IES FSV UK and director of the Economic Research Department of the Czech National Bank. The purpose of the Prize is to support female economists of Czech and foreign origin with long-term local activity and Czech female economists active abroad with exceptional standards of publication activity and to support their further professional development.

The Prize is associated with a monetary reward in the amount of CZK 100,000 financed from the Kateřina Šmídková Trust. CES members have the right to submit proposals for the Prize. The evaluation committee deciding on the Prize will consider the proposals submitted by CES members only if they receive the support of at least one CES board member. Proposals for the Prize should be sent to cse@cse.cz by 9th October 2026 with the completed nomination form.

The Prize giving ceremony will take place at 14th Biennial Conference of the CES to be held at the University of Economics, Prague, Czech Republic on November 27-28, 2026. The Prize giving ceremony will also include a lecture of the freshly awarded economist.
